eHealth NSW, on behalf of NSW Health, was proud to be a host partner at MedInfo 2023 – the 19th world congress on medical and health - held in July.

The prestigious, global digital health and health informatics event was delivered by the Australasian Institute of Digital Health at the International Conference Centre in Sydney.

There were more than 2,500 delegates from around the world, 700 speakers and 60 exhibitors.

eHealth NSW and NSW Health colleagues shared the latest advancements and achievements  that are helping to build a more connected, accessible health sector.

Services and solutions on display

The NSW Health exhibition space showcased some of the most innovative programs from across the NSW Health network.

It was great to be able to meet with delegates, demonstrate the benefits of these initiatives first-hand, and get their insights and feedback.

Thank you to our colleagues at the NSW Ministry of Health, the Agency for Clinical Innovation (ACI) and Sydney Local Health District for being part of this collaborative exhibit.

Sharing our digital health journey

One of the major highlights of the conference was the NSW Health Track Room Session where NSW Health leaders discussed the future of digital health.

eHealth NSW Chief Executive and NSW Health Chief Information Officer Dr Zoran Bolevich shared an overview of our Digital Strategy and key programs that are driving improvements across the health system.

Dr Jean-Frederic Levesque, Deputy Secretary Clinical Innovation and Research and ACI Chief Executive, spoke on the value of Patient Reported Measures to provide a holistic picture of patients' healthcare needs.

Matthew Daly, Deputy Secretary, System Sustainability and Performance, focused on the ways virtual care solutions can improve patient care, access, experience and outcomes.

The session also featured a panel discussion with Deputy Secretary, People, Culture and Governance, Phil Minns, Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer, Jacqui Cross and Dean of Medicine and Health, and Scientia Professor at University of NSW Prof Vlado Perkovic. They explored the challenges and opportunities that digital technology presents for our current and future healthcare workforce.

Dr Bolevich also appeared on a State of the Nation panel with other jurisdictional digital health leaders from around Australia on Day 5.

eHealth NSW had a number of our staff presenting digital posters at the event including:

  • Joanna Tsang: 'Evaluating and Improving Clinician Satisfaction and Experience with the eMR through collaboration;'
  • Carlo Mataverde: 'Clinical Solutions Design Governance: The Value of Design Working Groups;' and
  • Dr Fahad Khan: 'Leading Better Value Care.'

One of the key take-aways was the importance of engaging with consumers in the design and delivery of our digital healthcare solutions.
