eHealth NSW has marked a major collaborative milestone as a Single Digital Patient Record (SDPR) key delivery partner with the build of a new server.
The work achieved in partnership with the Single Digital Patient Record Implementation Authority (SDPRIA) and technology partners reflects a major milestone for the transformational program.
Rodney Daly, Associate Director, SDPRIA explains this server will play a key role in bringing the SDPR to 8 million people across NSW, supporting the consolidation, integration and testing of systems like the 3M encoder used for medical record coding.
“Before we can eventually move to a consolidated encoder when the SDPR is rolled out in 2026, the first step was to set up this new server. It also now lays the foundation for testing,” Mr Daly said.
“This is a significant achievement as it is one of the first systems to be built and integrated with the SDPR,” he added.
Richard Taggart, Chief Executive of eHealth NSW, said he was pleased with the progress and what the integration represents.
“This is a significant step forward in making our systems more seamless and easier to use for staff and clinicians, ultimately giving them more time to focus on patient care.” - Richard Taggart, Chief Executive of eHealth NSW
Laying strong foundations together
Partnering alongside the SDPRIA and other strategic delivery partners is key in bringing SDPR to life. Collectively, we will transform how people experience and deliver care in NSW Health, making life easier for patients, carers and NSW Health staff.
According to Dr Teresa Anderson AM, Chief Executive of the SDPRIA, this latest milestone shows the value of collaborative, expert partnerships across NSW Health.
“This is partnership in action, drawing on the expertise, talent and skills of our diverse partners to adapt, configure and deliver outcomes that will set up SDPR and NSW Health for success,” - Dr Teresa Anderson AM, Chief Executive of the SDPRIA
Looking ahead
As the implementation of SDPR continues, each technical milestone brings NSW Health closer to a unified and digitally enabled health system for all.
“This integration is part of our ongoing commitment to modernising NSW Health and ensuring that technology supports, rather than complicates, the important work of our clinicians and health information managers," Mr Taggart said.
“Our vision has always been to tap into the expertise which is in abundant supply across our vast and diverse state to ensure SDPR meets the needs of our NSW Health system, staff, consumers and their families,” he added.
“This truly is our NSW Health SDPR and witnessing it come to life piece by piece is incredibly rewarding and I’m excited to see progress continue in this space,” Dr Anderson said.
