We are very excited to announce that applications are now open for the 2026 digIT Aboriginal IT Employment Program!
The digIT program is your chance to gain nationally recognised qualifications, hands-on experience, and a pathway to a long-term career in one of Australia’s fastest-growing industries.
The program will be delivered in by eHealth NSW and the Single Digital Patient Record Implementation Authority (SDPRIA), with the opportunity to work across NSW Health agencies, including Local Health Districts across the metropolitan Sydney basin.
This program is part of our commitment to our diversity and inclusion commitment, NSW Closing the Gap Implementation Plan 2022-24 and the First Nations Digital Inclusion Plan - 2023-26 strategy.
Program highlights
- Duration: 24 months
- Pilot intake: 10 trainees
- Delivered by: eHealth NSW & SDPRIA
- Work locations: NSW Health agencies, including Local Health Districts in metropolitan Sydney
- Policy alignment: supports Closing the Gap targets 1, 3 and 5 and aligns with the NSW Aboriginal Health Plan 2024–2034.

Who is the digIT program for?
We are looking for someone who:
- Is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person between the age of 16 - 65
- Has a genuine interest and passion for Information Technology.
- Is available to work a minimum of 5 full business days for the duration of your Traineeship
The digIT program is designed for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people at different stages of life and career, including:
- Year 10, Year 12 students or recent school leavers who want to start a career in technology and health (a great option if you’re looking for an alternative to completing your Higher School Certificate)
- Job seekers looking for a fresh start in a growing industry
- Career changers who want to pivot from their current role into digital health
- Community members passionate about technology and improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
No prior IT experience is required, just a willingness to learn and grow.

Attend an information session
16th-18th December 2025
Potential candidates will have the opportunity to ask questions in information sessions held by the recruitment team. These will be held virtually on Teams.
Applications close
18th January 2026
Applications will close. Selection process begins.
Candidate interviews
27th-30th January 2026
Attend the interview and complete assessments.
Successful candidates notified
4th February 2026
All candidates will be contacted, and offers will be communicated to those who are successful.
Traineeship commences
2nd March 2026
