Telstra and NTT to support ICT infrastructure upgrade
Telstra and NTT will support a major ICT infrastructure upgrade at hospitals and health services across the state, as part of the Health Grade Enterprise Network (HGEN).
NSW Health’s core clinical systems rely heavily on ICT infrastructure to function at their best to support safe, timely, quality patient care. HGEN is a statewide initiative for the ongoing purchase and management of ICT network infrastructure.
Meeting future healthcare needs
Ian Schrader, Director Infrastructure Portfolio at eHealth NSW said that the HGEN initiative will upgrade the wired and wireless networking infrastructure we find in our hospitals and other facilities, to ensure it will meet future healthcare needs.
“Over the coming years, more than 1100 NSW Health facilities, including hospitals and community health centres will progressively undergo a refresh of local networking hardware and software that underpin our increasingly digital hospital environments.
“As our reliance on digital technology continues to grow, this will help ensure that NSW Health can continue to meet evolving clinical, patient and staff needs,” Mr Schrader said.
NTT and Telstra supply critical hardware including switches and wireless access points, along with associated software, licensing and services.
Partnering across NSW Health
eHealth NSW, the digital centre of excellence for NSW Health, is coordinating all HGEN activities in close partnership with Local Health Districts and NSW Health organisations.
HGEN is a critical enabler for future innovations across NSW Health such as the Single Digital Patient Record platform which will provide a secure, holistic and integrated view of the care a patient receives across the NSW Health system.
The initiative aligns with the NSW Health Future Health Strategy to have a consistent, connected and future ready ICT environment.
