Future-proofing the skills of our digital health workforce

19 September 2022

eHealth NSW’s new Digital Academy is designed to accelerate the digital health workforce of the future by upskilling our staff today.

The Digital Academy is one of the largest of its kind in Australia and enables our people to upskill, including learning from global technology leaders through our strong partnerships with Microsoft and Amazon Web Services (AWS).

eHealth NSW staff can access virtual, face-to-face and self-paced learning on a variety of key areas and can obtain AWS and Microsoft Azure certification for free.

Workforce development at heart of Digital Academy

The Digital Academy is a significant investment in our workforce and will ensure we can continue to build technology, design solutions and create digital innovations that improve the health outcomes and experiences for patients into the future.

More than 10,000 modules have already been completed and the Academy is already developing and enhancing the digital skills of team members working on key programs such as the cloud services transition.

By collaborating with industry experts such as AWS and Microsoft on the Digital Academy we can upskill our staff in modern cloud-based technologies.

Cloud infrastructure shapes the future of digital health

In Australia, eHealth NSW is leading the way in cloud transition for public healthcare IT. eHealth NSW has broken new ground with seven of its critical applications being the first organisation globally or nationally to host them in the cloud. This will enhance stability, increase operational efficiencies and improve access for clinicians providing patient care.

Over the coming years, we’ll transition all NSW Health’s most critical IT infrastructure from on-premise to the cloud.

Other modules available through the Digital Academy include Safety & Quality, Human Centred Design, Analytics and Agile Working.

78% of participants say they have had the opportunity to apply the learnings and 80% saying it has improved their ability to deliver work.

The Digital Academy will help ensure that we continue to innovate and deliver on our mission of improving patient care through world-leading digital health systems.
