Stronger ICT infrastructure supporting NSW Ambulance

31 March 2022

eHealth NSW continues to enhance the infrastructure of the NSW public health system with one of NSW Ambulance's most critical systems supporting patient care now more secure, reliable and efficient.

eHealth NSW and NSW Ambulance have partnered to migrate the Ambulance Intelligence System (AIS) to the NSW Governments Data Centre GovDC, a whole-of-government data centre. The AIS is crucial as it provides daily activity and performance information in near-real time for senior management to monitor and manage ambulance responses.

During the six-month migration, eHealth NSW also identified ways to improve the application's performance, increasing server capacity and accelerating compute times.

NSW Ambulance Information and Digital Director Iain McGregor said there were many benefits from this project. "The move to the NSW Government's whole-of-government server environment has been a high priority for NSW Ambulance, bringing stability, reduced operational risk, and performance improvements of critical applications,” he said.

Throughout 2022, eHealth NSW is partnering with local health districts, specialty health networks, pillars and other health organisations to migrate approximately 1000 applications and over 4000 servers to either GovDC or cloud-based infrastructure.
