Patients and visitors within the Northern NSW LHD now have access to free Wi-Fi. The service is an initiative of eHealth NSW and has now been provided at 331 out of 464 targeted health facilities across the state.

Following the success of three pilot sites at Ballina, Byron and Kyogle the remaining Northern NSW LHD sites went live in June.

Kyogle Multi-Purpose Service outpatient, Mathias Rogala-Koczorowski, who is receiving regular blood products that can take up to two hours at a time to administer said the Wi-Fi service was a “boon for patients”.

“I’ve enjoyed it as an inpatient in other hospitals. It’s wonderful that it’s also available as an outpatient, especially if you are having a lengthy procedure. I congratulate Kyogle Multi-Purpose Service for its pioneering role in providing this service for patients.”

The Wi-Fi service has facilitated over 3.7 million Wi-Fi sessions and 370,000 users across the state this year. These included video calls, music and movie streaming and access to social media, all delivered through appropriate privacy Internet filters.
