Patient care goes digital at 21st NSW Health ICU

17 March 2020

Critically ill patients in one of Westmead Hospital’s Intensive Care Units (ICUs) in Sydney’s west are the latest to benefit from eHealth NSW's Electronic Record for Intensive Care (eRIC).

Replacing paper forms, eRIC electronically integrates ICU patient data from multiple devices to provide enhanced clinical decision-making.

Following deployment at Westmead’s 10-bed cardiothoracic ICU on 16 March, eRIC is now live in 21 NSW Health ICUs across the state, from Port Macquarie in the north to Shoalhaven south of Sydney.

More than 45,000 patients have been treated using the clinical information system, which will next go live in Westmead’s general ICU, supporting the broader digital transformation of Australia’s largest public health system.
