About

eHealth NSW is NSW Health’s digital centre of excellence. Providing world-class ICT for Australia’s largest health system.

Our vision and goals

As NSW Health’s digital centre of excellence, we plan, implement and support ICT and digital capabilities right across the state.

Since our inception in 2014, we’ve strived to establish a digitally enabled and integrated health system that provides patient‑centred health experiences and quality health outcomes.

Our three key digital health goals ensure that:

  • Patients are supported, well informed, and actively engaged in their health.
  • NSW Health staff have the tools to make effective decisions with access to the very best training.
  • NSW Health organisations have the capacity for smart, transparent, and efficient management, business, and service planning.

Our culture and values

Our culture and values encourage collaboration, openness and respect in the workplace, empowering our staff members to use their knowledge, skills and experience to provide the best possible care for patients, their families and carers.

What we do

eHealth NSW is a NSW Health shared service agency established in 2014. We work in partnership with local health districts, specialty health networks, pillars and other health organisations to provide world-leading ICT solutions that support the health and wellness needs of NSW communities now and into the future.

Our 2,000 staff manage and support some of the largest enterprise-wide systems in Australia as well as the comprehensive ICT infrastructure supporting them. We also manage the central cyber security functions of NSW Health, in close collaboration with Cyber Security NSW, and recently assumed responsibility for ICT Category Management in relation to the procurement of ICT and digital systems and services across NSW Health.

eHealth Strategy for NSW Health

The statewide eHealth Strategy is aligned to the key strategic priorities of NSW Health.

Our shared vision is for a sustainable health system that delivers outcomes that matter to patients, is personalised, invests in wellness, and is digitally enabled. To enable this vision, the strategy sets out the guidance for digital health investment, so NSW Health can harness innovations and meet growing healthcare demands long into the future. The strategy includes seven key focus areas, each one covering the initiatives and investment needed, to deliver effective solutions and services.

  • Clinical applications help doctors, nurses, allied health clinicians and managers provide safe, quality care, and enable patients to control their own healthcare.

  • Support a connected healthcare system by enabling the safe and seamless sharing of digital patient information between healthcare providers across NSW, and with the patient themselves.

  • Enable NSW Health staff to work efficiently and effectively and ultimately provide support for clinicians to deliver optimal patient care.

  • Enhance data management, analytics and health intelligence.

  • Deliver a statewide technology ecosystem which supports the move to integrated and shared care across NSW Health.

  • Enhance patient and provider access to digital health information and services.

  • Harness the power of innovation, cultivate a culture of innovation and collaboration in a bid to fast-track the best ideas, maximise return on investment and build eHealth capacity across the state.

How we work

How we work

Our staff are achievement focused, dedicated and passionate professionals who take pride in working for the greater good – to support our patients, our NSW Health colleagues and delivering on the digital health goals of NSW Health.

Partnership and collaboration are at the heart of everything we do. We strongly believe working together with our health and industry colleagues is the best way to deliver great digital healthcare solutions for the people of NSW.

We coordinate and collaborate with other government agencies, both state and federally, as well as peak bodies, research and academic organisations.

We work closely with industry, preferring to co-partner from design through to delivering ICT solutions rather than just taking a traditional ‘customer’ role.

We also recognise that collaboration must involve patients and consumers to truly improve digital health for everyone in NSW. We work hard to engage patients, carers and their families in the co-design of patient-centric, integrated, seamless and personalised digitally enabled healthcare services.

Executive team

The executive management team supports the Chief Executive to establish, deliver and evaluate eHealth NSW’s frameworks for strategy and performance and managing governance and risk.
